Providing the opportunity for prior Loras College students to complete a baccalaureate degree, Loras is adding a Liberal Studies major to our offering.
The Liberal Studies major provides a curriculum representative of the broad knowledge areas of the liberal arts and the mission of Loras College. Course offerings will include the arts, behavioral sciences, cultural and social studies, ethics, literature, religious studies and sciences.
The Liberal Studies major courses will be delivered to adult-learners in an online format, year-round. David Cochran, Ph.D.,
professor of politics, is tentatively scheduled to offer the first course, “The Irish in America.”
Classes will be offered in condensed blocks, offering a clear path to earning your bachelor’s degree. As part of the program you will have access to support services such as the library and writing center, an academic advisor to walk you through any questions or you can self-register for courses. You will have two years to reach the 120 credits required to earn your degree.
You may be eligible for admission to this program if you have:
a minimum of 105 completed credits from Loras, including transfer credits previously accepted by Loras College or completed prior to enrolling in the LS degree-completion major
completed an application for admission and admission essay reflecting on how the Liberal Studies major fits with current life/career goals
not already earned a bachelor’s degree from another institution
