Dear Loras Alumni, Parents & Friends,

I am pleased to share with you a brief report highlighting a few of the qualitative and quantitative results from the most recent fiscal year (June 1, 2012 – May 31, 2013).

While no report can adequately capture all that takes place over the course of a year, I do hope this report gives you a sense of the College’s accomplishments and some of the fiscal stewardship we demonstrate. Your investment truly makes a difference in the lives of our students. To that end, I wish to offer sincere gratitude on behalf of the entire Loras community for your generous support this past year. Further, I encourage your continued investment as we move forward. Please note just a few of the ways you can enhance your investment to ensure our strong results as a Catholic, Liberal Arts College:

Encourage qualified prospective students to look into/attend Loras – let high school students know of Loras’ many great attributes and highlight the impressive fact that 31% of our student body are legacy (family members of alumni).

Assist current students and recent graduates with their career exploration – introducing students to your professional field or industry can be helpful. Providing or linking students with internship opportunities is invaluable. Did you know that over 90% of recent Loras graduates have had immersive study abroad, service learning and/or internship experiences?

Contribute financially so that the Loras experience continues to be enhanced – you’ll note that roughly 20% of our graduates contribute annually. More than 37% have contributed at least once in the past three years. Alumni giving needs to improve not only so that the level is commensurate with the love we all profess for Loras, but so that students are supported in their educational journey in the generous ways in which we were all provided.

Pray for Loras, our students, faculty, staff, benefactors and alumni – these are challenging times – economically, morally, and politically. Loras people have always found inspiring ways to support and care for one another. As we say around here, "It is all about Duhawks supporting Duhawks!” Prayer is perhaps the most important way for us to demonstrate such support.

Share widely and promote passionately the “good news” of Loras College – you can never wear enough purple and gold! Keep abreast of Loras happenings, achievements and news by making sure your contact information is up to date at your alma mater, that you are signed up on all our social media sites and that you let all your co-workers, neighbors and friends know that you are proud of Loras and why.

Participate regularly in on-campus, national and international gatherings hosted by Loras – your presence keeps you connected not only with the College, but with other alumni, students, faculty and staff.

Loras recently kicked-off its ambitious “Inspiring Lives and Leadership: The Loras Legacy” campaign. This theme was not arrived at lightly. We wanted to define our future by celebrating our strengths. Your continued investment – in all the ways defined above and enclosed – will ensure Loras’ ability to educate and serve the promising students of today and tomorrow. As Loras has proven long ago and through today, the outcomes and return on such investments are immeasurable.
