Loras College Continues ‘Four State Flagship Rate’ Financial Aid Program

The investment in a college education may be the most important decision a family makes together. Loras College is pleased to announce an innovative program aimed at making a Loras education more financially feasible for families.
Beginning in Fall 2013, students who qualify, apply and are accepted to Loras College can look forward to tuition, fees, room and board more closely resembling public university cost, bringing the prospect of the Loras experience closer to financial reality for many families.
“We are proud to be enhancing Loras’ 174-year history of making a private, liberal arts education accessible to future students from Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota.  The new pricing program offers a qualified student the opportunity to attend Loras College and earn a quality private liberal arts education at the cost of their home state public institution,” explained Omar Correa, Vice President of Enrollment Management at Loras.
“Nationally, student cost of higher education continues to garner much attention and scrutiny. Not everyone investigates the merits of private higher education as closely as they should. Loras has a history of providing an outstanding education which leads to extraordinary job placement and graduate school entry. We do so by making student cost of attendance reasonable. This new program allows us to immediately break down artificial barriers while encouraging even more quality students to attend Loras,” President Jim Collins stated.

Loras College leverages its historic roots as Iowa’s first college, the second oldest Catholic college in the country and one of the nation’s ten diocesan colleges to deliver challenging, life changing experiences as part of its residential, Catholic setting.  Ranked 14th among baccalaureate colleges by US News Media for ensuring academic rigor, Loras outperforms peers in placement rates, with 95% of graduates employed or enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduation. The impressive part of this statistic is that all graduates are part of the denominator which is a much more robust calculation than what is used by other institutions.

With more than 40 majors and 13 pre-professional areas of study, the academic, cultural, spiritual and athletic experiences at Loras make it the perfect place to prepare for a life students will love.
