Loras College President Jim Collins
was unanimously elected by his peers to serve as treasurer for the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) at its annual meeting in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 3, 2013.
Effective immediately, Collins begins a two-year term as a member of the ACCU Executive Committee and will serve as the only lay member of the six-member group on a board of directors comprised of 17 individuals. The other presidents elected to serve include: chair, Sr. Margaret Carney, St. Bonaventure University (N.Y.); vice-chair, the Rev. Michael Garanzini, Loyola University (Ill.); secretary, the Rev. Thomas Curran, Rockhurst University (Mo.); at-large, the Rev. Peter Donahue, Villanova University (Pa.); and at-large, Sr. Anne Munley, Marywood University (Pa.).
Collins was elected to serve on the ACCU Board of Directors in 2009 and will complete his multiple-term service in 2016. Collins also serves on the board of regents for Seton Hall University, the executive committee for the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) and as chair of the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (IAICU).
The Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities was founded in 1899 and serves as the voice of Catholic Universities for over 200 member institutions.
