The Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency and Loras College are sponsoring a showing of the movie “Bag It” on Wednesday, November 13, 7 p.m. in the Foley Auditorium, St. Joseph Hall of Science, on the Loras College campus.
The film’s topic revolves around the use of plastic in our society. What started as a documentary about plastic bags has evolved into a wholesale investigation into plastics and their effect on our waterways, oceans, and even our bodies. In the U.S., it’s estimated that we use 60,000 plastic bags every 5 seconds. Most of these are thrown away. But where is away? This film puts humor, truth, and the shocking use of plastic all together to present our society’s addiction to throwing it all away.
The film screening is open to the public and door prizes will be available. For more information, call the Solid Waste Education Office at 563-588-7933.
