Loras College senior Kinsey Campbell
(’14) (Greendale, Wis.) can influence the outcome of a soccer game from her defender position. She also has influence on what happens off the field as the President of Loras College’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Campbell has been voted the Iowa Conference’s Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week in each of the first two weeks of the season.
A senior from Greendale, Wisconsin, she was named the MVP of the Advantage Emblem Cup hosted by St. Scholastica, after the then-No. 11 Duhawks posted shutout wins over the host Saints (1-0) and Wis.-Superior (7-0) August 30-31.
A week later, Campbell was named to the all-tournament team at the MSOE Raider Invitational after leading the No. 10 Duhawks to a third-place finish. Loras fell to Calvin, 1-0, in overtime and then toppled host Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), 2-1, in the consolation game. The Duhawks also shut out Wisconsin-Platteville, 4-0, earlier in the week.
Campbell is also President of Loras’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2013-14. Each NCAA institution maintains this group, and the Duhawks’ version is as influential as any in the country. This year the organization will host at least three “Take A Kid To A Game Day” events, two Special Olympics Play Days, a Toys For Tots drive, a talent show, and the year-ending “Dewey Awards”.
The women’s soccer team will host their first games in the Rock Bowl this weekend against Carroll University and Aurora University.
*Loras also won a championship on the cross country course on September 7. The women’s team took first place at the Central College Invitational. Maggie Saenz Ruiz
(’16) (Bogota, Colombia) won the event and four of her teammates were close behind, all finishing among the top eight places.
