As Loras College welcomes the new year, we believe it is important to take stock of our accomplishments and thank our alumni, friends and campus community members for making it all possible.  Join us in celebrating the following 2013 highlights:

  • Loras began its 175th anniversary celebration as Iowa’s first college by announcing an increased enrollment and welcoming its second largest full-time, first-year class in 20 years.
  • Loras was ranked 4th among 95 Iowa colleges and universities in ROI (return on investment) according to a recently released, unsolicited and independent study done by Affordable Colleges Online. Only Drake University, University of Iowa and Iowa State University finished ahead of Loras.
  • Loras earned the 14th spot and another Top Tier ranking among the 190 Best Midwest Regional Colleges in the 2013 edition of “Best Colleges” by U.S. News Media Group.
  • 96.5% of the Class of 2012 reported being employed and/or continuing their education within one year of graduation. Nationally, this same class reported a 55 percent placement rate.
  • Loras was again named a College of Distinction, one of only 20 among the 230 Catholic colleges and universities.
  • LCTV was named the top Iowa collegiate television station for the 4th consecutive year.
  • Numerous programs were ranked nationally: Sports Management (#1); Dance Marathon Fundraising (#1); Men's Soccer (#3); Women’s Soccer (#21); Men's Cross Country (#26); NCAA III Athletics (#14 among all 450+ NCAA III programs through Fall ’13 competition) and; President’s Service Honor Roll with Distinction.
  • Loras students launched a Drumline program and started a new student organization, Breaking the Silence, to bring greater awareness to mental wellness.
  • Six Loras professors had books published and released.
  • Loras’ independent Social Work program received accreditation and our Teacher Education program was reaccredited for the maximum 7 years.
  • Loras’ four-year Engineering program received ABET accreditation, rare for an institution the size of Loras.
  • Loras launched its largest fundraising campaign, Inspiring Lives & Leadership, with a goal of $75 million. Nearly $50 million has been raised and more than 37 percent of our alumni have already contributed to the campaign.
  • The Loras Parkway project was cited for Excellence in Concrete.
