Loras College Hosts Free “Brain Games” Demonstration March 10

3/3/2014

In celebration of Brain Awareness Week, Loras College’s Psi Chi and NeuroClub invite the community to learn and experience the amazing functions of the brain March 10, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Alumni Campus Center, Marie Graber Ballroom. The unique event titled “Brain Games: Neuronal Fun for All Ages” will consist of 20 demonstrations including optical illusions, puzzles, running a maze in inverted goggles and observing a brain specimen.

Sara Bagley, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology, has been guiding a group of students in the development of the event.  “The brain and all of its capabilities is pretty amazing. This type of brain-y fun has been designed for all ages—elementary school kids as well as adults—who are still kids at heart,” she explained.

As Psi Chi president, Nick Neibergall (’14) (Urbandale, Iowa) is excited to put what he has learned from textbooks and in classrooms into practice, in a fun and educational way. “We look forward to being able to reach students and adults of all ages. This is a somewhat rare opportunity for individuals to learn about the fascinating inner workings of the mind and how it applies to them in a "real world" way,” he explained.

This event is free and open to the public.
