Loras College's fifth annual Business Week, sponsored by Dennis and Mona Houlihan, will take place May 5-9, 2014. The week-long series of presentations and panels by alumni and professional leaders are free and open to the public.
The institution is excited to welcome Brian Smith
(’77), co-founder and CEO of Argent Development Group, Tarrytown, New York, and Loras College regent, as this year’s keynote speaker. Smith’s keynote address, “How You Think,” will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, in the Alumni Campus Center, Marie Graber Ballrooms A and B.
Smith came to Loras College in the fall of 1973 and was a member of both the soccer team and the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. In 1977, Smith received his bachelor’s degree in marketing at Loras, went on to earn an MBA from Dominican University in 1984 and completed the Harvard Business School OPM Program in 2006.
Prior to joining Argent Development Group, Smith led sales, marketing and business development for various pharmaceutical companies. In 1998, Boron LePore & Associates named Smith as its president, where he built the company’s revenues to greater than $150 million and was responsible for all facets of its ongoing commercial business.
From 2000-2003, Smith worked for ANDRx Corporation as that company’s executive vice president of sales, marketing and business development. While at ANDRx, he founded its brand division and launched the sales force and its first two products. With Smith’s leadership, ANDRx grew sales to over $100 million in 24 months.
Loras is also excited to welcome speaker Greg Burbach,
CPA, CFP, managing partner at Honkamp Krueger & Co., P.C., Dubuque, Iowa, and a Loras College regent, and Rich Scalise
