ALL-SPORTS CAMP REACHES HISTORIC BENCHMARK

As Loras College continues to celebrate its 175th anniversary, another Loras institution has reached an incredible benchmark: Loras College All-Sports Camp has exceeded 50,000 registrants. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the 50,000th registrant, Matthew Groskopf of St. Charles, Ill., received a $300 camp voucher.

Founded in 1982 by Bob Tucker, Ed.D., associate professor of physical education and head track and field coach at Loras College at the time, and his wife, Judy, the Loras College All-Sports Camp provides a unique environment where 8-14-year-old male and female campers hone their athletic skills while developing Christian values and practicing good citizenship.

Entering its 32nd season, the Loras College All-Sports Camp has grown to mentoring about 2,285 campers a year, through four one-week sessions. Campers receive intensive instruction in one major sport along with training in two additional minor sports of their choice. Over 40 majors and minors are available including:

In addition to a wide range of athletic opportunities, the camp is known for its unique reward system: the Loras College Paddle Award®. The Paddle Award® is given to campers based on their qualities of good citizenship. The first step in the awards process is achieving the paddle itself for practicing good listening skills. Once a paddle is earned, campers strive to earn brands associated with the acronym “LC PADDLE” or love, Christianity, perseverance, attitude, dedication, discipline, loyalty and enthusiasm.

Additionally, summer camps in various specific sports are being offered through Loras College Athletics, in sports such as volleyball, basketball and football.  Information on those opportunities can be found at under Camps and Clinics at duhawks.com.  Additional summer camp opportunities will be added as they are finalized in coming weeks.

Have a child in mind that would love to become a camper? Camp sessions for the 32nd Annual Loras College All-Sports Camp are June 15-20, June 22-27, July 6-11 and July 13-18. For more information and registration visit www.loras.edu/sportscamp or call (563) 588-7053.
