Loras College will celebrate its annual Heritage Week March 17-21. A variety of events have been planned by students, faculty, staff and alumni to commemorate and celebrate this important week during the 175th celebration.
Monday, March 17
The Loras Student Alumni Council will host an event title “Be more. Be Grateful” to raise awareness of the importance of thanking donors and alumni for their support to the College. Photos and videos will be made to share with alumni and friends. Stop by the Alumni Campus Center at 11:00 a.m. to share your gratitude.
Tuesday, March 18
The week-long celebration’s keynote event, a Hesburgh Lecture with Rev. Ronald J. Nuzzi, Ph.D., will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Alumni Campus Center’s Marie Graber Ballroom. Sponsored by Dr. Mark Hermann, oncologist at Dubuque Internal Medicine, this event is free and open to the public.
Nuzzi, a priest of the Diocese of Youngstown, Ohio, served as a high school administrator and currently is the Director of Catholic Leadership Programs in the Alliance for Catholic Education at the University of Notre Dame. A nationally known speaker and author, Nuzzi has written on the multiple intelligence theory in Catholic education, the spirituality of leadership, and inclusion in Catholic schools. Nuzzi has conducted two separate research tours at the Vatican’s Congregation for Catholic Education and has provided original translation of church documents pertaining to the history of Catholic schooling.
Wednesday, March 19
The St. Joseph’s Day Mass will be presided over by Dubuque Archbishop Michael O. Jackels at 4:00 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel.
Connect with Loras Alumni using LinkedIn. Join us for pizza, pop and hands-on training from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Alumni Campus Center, Arizona Room. The Loras Student Alumni Council and the Center for Experiential Learning invite you to attend hands-on training aimed to connect students with alumni via Loras College Alumni LinkedIn group. Thanks to Northwestern Mutual for providing complimentary pizza and pop for this training.
Thursday, March 20
The Center for Dubuque History and Rare Book Room of the Loras College Academic Resource Center will be open and staffed for the public to explore from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
The Loras Student Alumni Council will be hosting the “Heritage Week Meet and Greet” in The Pub at 5:00 p.m. A cash bar and food will be available and guests will have a chance to mingle with alumni, students, faculty and staff.
