What Can You Do with a Biology or Biology Research Major?

  1. Go to further graduate training in research-based masters or doctoral programs in:

    • Neuroscience
    • Cell or Molecular Biology
    • Genetics
    • Ecology
    • Zoology
    • Developmental Biology
    • Physiology
    • Botany
    • Ornithology
    • Environmental Science

  2. Teach High School Biology

    Many students get a coaching certificate to go with their classroom teaching degree.

  3. Work for a Pharmaceutical Company in Research and Development or Sales

    Examples: Abbott Labs in Chicago, Fort Dodge Labs in Fort Dodge, IA.

  4. Enter one of many Health Science training programs in

    GO TO THE UPPER LEFT CORNER OF THE SCREEN AND CLICK ON ACADEMICS AND LOOK FOR THE HEALTH SCIENCE FIELD(S) OF YOUR CHOICE TO FIND OUT MORE.

  5. Work for local, state or federal environmental agencies in fisheries or wildlife management, forestry, prairie restoration, environmental education or water quality control.

  6. Other graduates have found other jobs after graduation:

    Cortney Kettman Keuter ('07) and Melissa Casey ('06) are both working at Dubuque Internal Medicine as Physician's Assistants and lovin' it!

    Dustin Derflinger ('05) is working in Des Moines as an ER physician at Mercy Medical Center.
