Through their baptism, all Christians are called to take part in the life and mission of the church. In the Catholic Church, many men and women volunteer or work within church settings in mutual collaboration with the pastoral ministry of bishops, priests, and deacons as "lay ecclesial ministers."  This ministry often includes such professional positions as Youth Minister, Director of Religious Education/Catechesis, Director of Worship/Liturgical Music, and Parish Administrator.  Students interested in these ministries may want to complete the Religious Studies/Theology major with a concentration of courses dedicated to service within the church.

As part of the Religious Studies major, the concentration in ministry provides a broad intellectual foundation while requiring the same total number of credit hours.  In addition to the courses required for the major, the concentration allows students to tailor their academic formation in preparation for the practical concerns of church ministry.  Beyond the courses for the major, the concentration also requires the following courses:
