Merit-Based Assistance - Scholarships and Grants


Presidential Scholarships
Loras offers five (5) full tuition scholarships. Qualified candidates will have at least a 3.75 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale and a minimum 27 ACT composite score. Presidential Scholarship competition day will be held February 2014. Candidates must be accepted to the College prior to January 31, 2014.
 
Loras Merit Awards
Loras offers academic scholarships to students who have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale and a minimum 20 ACT composite score. Scholarships range from $4,000-$18,000.
 
Breitbach Catholic Thinkers and Leaders Program $17,000 per year
This scholarship is awarded to selected applicants. Application materials and essay are due January 2014. You may send or email your 1,000 word essay describing your faith development and how you hope to live a life of faith and leadership, and a detailed list of your activities and involvements while in high school. You will also need to send two letters of reference from two non-family members who can speak to your faith development and leadership qualities. Selected students will be invited to interview on campus during Breitbach Scholarship Days, February 2014.

Students awarded the Breitbach scholarship are not eligible to receive a Loras Merit Award or Presidential Scholarship.

Pope John Paul II Memorial Scholarship
One (1) $5,000 and Four (4) $2,000 scholarships awarded. Please contact the Office of Admission to receive an application packet.
 
Music Scholarship $500-$2,000 per year
Awarded based on audition and open to all majors. Students must be accepted to the college by January 31, 2014, to be eligible to audition. Students must participate in at least one performance group as a Loras College student each year. Auditions will be held February 2014. National Alumni Board Scholarship $3,000 per year
Awarded to a selected student each year and renewable for three years. Please contact the Office of Admission to apply.
 
Loras Grant Amount Varies
Based on financial need and total of other Loras College scholarships and grants awarded. Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress.

To ensure full consideration for scholarships and grants, students must be applied, accepted and have all current transcripts and test scores sent to Loras College by January 31, 2014. Scholarships cited subject to change prior to January 1, 2014. Scholarships may be renewable; see Financial Planning Office for details. Full-time enrollment and satisfactory progress required.
