Duhawk DM is a year-long event.  We sponsor numerous programs throughout the year that raises both money and awareness for the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network.
  •  Mini Marathons:  Mini Dance Marathons are a great way to get young people of the Dubuque Community involved in a great cause! Mini’s are hosted by the area schools with the help of the Loras College Students involved in Dance Marathon. DuhawkDM Students work with schools’ staff to learn the best way to fundraise and host a Mini at their institution in order to ensure its success! These Students also do all the organizing and facilitating throughout the event. The following are just a couple of ways that Dubuque Area Community Schools have hosted Mini DM’s in the past:  If you have questions, please contact either Andrea Edna andrea.edna@loras.edu or Chelsey Warning at Chelsey.warning@loras.edu.
  • Kick’n for the Kids:  Duhawk DM hosts a charity Kickball Tournament each year.  There are two different age brackets that participants can register for; 1st-5th grade and 6th-8th. There is a $5 registration fee and we also encourage each participant try to donate/fundraise $10. Teams consist of 8-12 players and you can register as a single player or form a team! There will also be prizes for the winning team. All proceeds will benefit the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.

    • What is Extra-Life?  Extra Life is an annual video game marathon event that raises money for the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network.  This will be Loras College Dance Marathon’s first year participating in Extra-Life.
    • How Does it Work?  Players can participate in anything from hardcore shooters, social networking games, or even table top games.  Extra Life doesn’t specify.  Players are asked to game 24 hours within the 60 hour period.  If a gamer can’t complete the full 24 hour marathon or must play on an alternate date, that is OK.  The best part is that you can participate from the comfort of your own couch and you get to help kids while doing it.
    • It’s as easy as 1-2-3:
How do your Donations Help? All of the money raised will support Loras College Dance Marathon’s mission to save and improve the lives of sick children and will go directly to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital which is supported by the Children’s Miracle Network.  Participants who raise $150 will receive an official Extra-Life t-shirt.
