More Paid Internships for Loras Students with Help from Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation
Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation expanded its grant program to help students with financial need reap the educational and career-boosting benefits of paid internships. As a recipient of a $135,244 Career Ready Internship grant, Loras will collaborate with local businesses and nonprofits to develop new paid internships and convert existing unpaid internships into paid opportunities
Loras College Receives $50,000 Scholarship Donation from Monsignor Martin Laughlin, P.A.
Loras College recently received a $50,000 cash donation from Msgr. Martin Laughlin (’48) toward the $75-million Inspiring Lives and Leadership Campaign. The donation establishes the Rev. James J. Donohue, Rev. Andrew J. Creighton and Msgr. William B. Collins Scholarship.
Loras College Professor Receives $2,000 Grant for Psychology Research
Loras College Assistant Professor of Psychology Sara Bagley, Ph.D., has recently been one of 12 international professors awarded a $2,000 Psi Chi 2014-2015 Faculty Advisor Research Grant. The grant funds will be used to assist Bagley and Loras student researchers in exploring the effects of social evaluative stress on time perception in males.
Loras College Receives $79,000 Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust Grant
Loras College has recently been awarded a $79,000 Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust grant. The grant funds will be used to renovate and equip a new kinesiology laboratory in the St. Joseph Hall of Science on campus. The Roy J. Carver Kinesiology Classroom and Laboratory project will transform an existing classroom into a modern student research facility serving students studying kinesiology, athletic training, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, neuroscience and those preparing for careers in a pre-health profession.
Loras College Receives $200,000 Scholarship Donation from David Holmberg
Loras College received a $200,000 cash donation from David Holmberg (’72) to establish the David J. Holmberg Science Scholarship, assisting students to pursue their STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education at the college. The 4 year renewal scholarship will be available to students who demonstrate significant financial need, with a preference given to female students.
