Varsity Catholic

In 2007, FOCUS launched Varsity Catholic, realizing the unique needs and challenges student-athletes face. We wanted to provide them a comprehensive development during their college experience and know that sometimes their status, time, and/or energy doesn't allow them an easy opportunity to invest in their spiritual growth. So we set out, with three staff at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, to respond to this need in the hopes of providing a service to develop the complete athlete.

Core Values: Community, Faithfulness, and Service

Mission Statement: to pursue the imperishable crown, become true disciples of Jesus Christ, and introduce the hearts and minds of student-athletes to our Lord and His Church.

Vision: to become a premier outreach for collegiate athletes, known for bringing Christ and His Church into the lives of student-athletes while being a positive inspiration in local communities. For more information, email us at info@varsitycatholic.org.

Varsity Catholic serves as a Division of FOCUS (www.focus.org)

Why Varsity Catholic?

The Athlete Themselves
Student athletes have unique needs and challenges. Through personal investment, we seek to develop the athletes in their character and faith in Jesus Christ and strengthen their knowledge and participation in the life of grace.

Building Future Coaches
Many collegiate athletes will step into coaching positions upon graduation. John Wooden is quoted as saying, “Outside the immediate family, teachers and coaches have the greatest influence on young people.” By reaching college athletes today, we will reach the coaches of tomorrow.

The Potential Influence
Our society is impacted in every area by sports. The NCAA operating budget for 2007-2008 was $614 million alone. Varsity Catholic equips student-athletes with the tools needed to be effective leaders and role models on their team and in their community.
