a successful transition from high school to college

Choosing a college is hard, but leaving everything you're familiar with when you come to school is an even bigger step.

Students will receive the Loras College First Year Summer Reading Packet at orientation – more information will be available soon.

Launch into Loras is an intensive orientation program which helps smooth out the transition from high school to college. You'll begin the program by moving in three days earlier than other students. From the minute your last box is unloaded, your time will be filled with activities to help orient you to campus, build relationships and have fun!

Through small and large group activities, you'll build lasting relationships with other students, faculty and staff. And you'll better understand the opportunities your years at Loras College will bring you. Activities include:

  • large and small group discussions
  • ropes course team building activity
  • common reading discussion
  • community service project
  • nightly social activities

Launch into Loras participants say:

"Getting to know other students in a smaller setting made it easier to meet people and make friends."

"I enjoyed meeting everyone and making new friends. We're going to be together for the next four years and it's a great advantage to get this head start."
