The Loras story

We are nationally recognized as a strong academic institution.
Loras earned the 11th spot and Top Tier ranking among Best Midwest Regional Colleges in the 2013 edition of “Best Colleges” by U.S. News Media Group. Loras improved its 2012 ranking from 14th to 11th due to high retention rates, excellent placement outcomes, strong graduation rates and continued high academic standards.

We are a distinguished Catholic college.
Loras was named as a College of Distinction, one of only 20 among the 230 Catholic colleges and universities based on the best places to learn, grow and succeed.

We demonstrate strong outcomes in our academic programs...
Of the Loras Class of 2012, 96.5% of alumni are employed or pursuing advanced education. Nationally, that same class reports a 55% placement rate. Ninety-eight percent of our 2012 class
responded, which means we record the 1.8% who did not respond as “unplaced.” This uncommon and rigorous reporting methodology makes the outcome even more impressive.

...And an impressive return on investment.
Loras ranks 4th among Iowa colleges and universities in ROI (return on investment) according to a recently released, unsolicited and independent study done by Affordable Colleges Online. The rankings were based on tuition, fees and a 30-year wage history of graduates from the analyzed institutions using statistics from multiple sources. Only Drake University, University of Iowa and Iowa State University fi nished ahead of Loras College.

We demonstrate strong outcomes in our academic and co-curricular programs.
Numerous programs are ranked regionally and nationally. They include: Sports Management (#1); Mediation (#2); NCAA III Athletics (top 10%); and Service Honor Roll (top 5% nationally).

We encourage our students to experience and serve the world.
Opportunities are abundant as over 90 percent of our student body have traveled abroad, engaged in an internship or served away from campus by the time they graduate.

In addition, 1,096 students participated in 58,686 hours of service last year. Loras has earned a place on the President’s Honor Roll for Community Service with Distinction since 2010. This places us among the top tier of colleges and universities in the nation for efforts in community service as recognized at the federal level.

We help students see God in all things.
From a liturgical coordinator to FOCUS missionaries to a Dean for Campus Spiritual Life, Loras provides an expansive staff to provide students with a wide variety of opportunities to pursue and enhance their faith lives.
