I really benefit
Danielle Koos is having the college experience she always desired. After starting her college career in Iowa City, Danielle found her passion in accounting, and returned to Dubuque to seek out that experience at Loras College.
“When I changed my major from actuarial science to accounting, I saw my opportunity to have the college experience I always desired. After being at Loras over a year now, I am proud to say Loras is everything that I expected.”
Danielle jumped into life as a Duhawk immediately after transferring to Loras. She joined Phi Beta Lambda, Loras’ business club, and became its treasurer after just one semester. That same semester, she was elected to student senate and currently serves as senior class senator.
“The commitment by everyone on campus to make new students feel involved is incredible,” Danielle remembers. “The friendly environment that Loras has is ideal for college life.” Danielle qualifi es for merit scholarships that help offset tuition costs, and credits faculty and staff at Loras for helping her seek out additional funding to support her education. The support of faculty in her career preparation is something Danielle also highly values.
“When I was actively looking for an accounting internship, I received e-mails constantly from professors who had knowledge of possible positions. The professors also provided recommendations for me when I received interviews for potential jobs. They are very dedicated to their students and I fi nd this to be one of the most benefi cial aspects of Loras.”
Danielle plans to graduate in May and sit for the CPA exam immediately following graduation. After interviewing with several different CPA fi rms and private companies, Danielle recently accepted an audit associate position with McGladrey.
