Loras College Associate Professor Seth Myers and Loras alumnus Ted Wittman ('13) will be screening their award-winning short film Manifest” this week at the Toluca International Film Festival. Toluca is the state capital of Mexico State, and the fifth largest city in Mexico.

“Manifest” is one of only nine films from the United States in the international festival.  The Festival will screen documentaries, fiction, animation, and experimental works from over fifty different countries. “Manifest” is the only American film in the experimental category of the festival.

“This poetic short film has exceeded our expectations.  When a film transcends cultural boundaries and connects with people across continents, it validates that visual art can be a bridge across social differences. The challenge is to continue to make art that connects with a global community on an emotional and spiritual level. Art has the power to promote multicultural understanding and create social change, even if it resonates with just one person in an audience,” Myers said.

The International Film Festival of Toluca was formed by a group of young people living in Toluca interested in the growth and strengthening of its artistic and cultural city.  Their mission has been to establish a platform that allows access to a cultural exchange through international cinema.

This is the ninth official selection for the film.  For more information on Manifest please see www.facebook.com/manifestshort.
