Loras College's third annual Business Week, sponsored by the Houlihan Investment Group, will take place May 13- 17, 2013. The Loras College Business department, faculty, and students will welcome Oversee.net CEO, and this year’s keynote speaker, Debra S. Domeyer
(’81). Domeyer’s keynote address will take place on Thursday May 16, 2013 in the Alumni Campus Center, Ballrooms C&D. Domeyer will be speaking about Big Data, as well as her Loras experience, tips for life after Loras College, her career path, and the importance of Big Data in today’s business world.
Domeyer is recognized as a leader in internet media and online advertising. She is the Chief Executive Officer at Oversee.net, one of the largest online performance marketing networks in the world, connecting advertisers to over 240 million unique visitors each month. She started at Oversee.net as the chief technology officer.
Prior to joining Oversee.net, Debra held the position of chief technology officer at Internet Brands (INET), an internet media company, from 2000 to 2008. From 1998 to 1999, she served as vice president and chief information officer at Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) Energy Services, leading deregulation initiatives for one of the largest energy companies in the country. From 1993 to 1997, Domeyer was vice president of Information Systems for the Times Mirror Company where she managed technology initiatives across 29 newspaper, professional information, and magazine companies encompassing a staff of more than 800. Her public sector career includes serving in the White House during the Reagan administration and supervising the development of distributed applications and secure communications for the President's trips worldwide. In 2001, Domeyer was named one of the top 25 CTOs by InfoWorld Magazine and listed in the Computerworld Premier 100 IT leaders.
Domeyer has a B.A. in Business from Loras College and a Master's degree from George Washington University. She is a frequent public speaker on technology innovation including mobile, big data and e-commerce. She was most recently a keynote speaker at Webfest Global and Computerworld’s Symposium on the Power of Big Data. She is a frequent speaker at the UCLA Anderson School of Business and has recently been nominated as a finalist for the Los Angeles Business Journal “Women Making a Difference” award. She is active in the community of Malibu where she is on the Board at Our Lady of Malibu School and leads the Eucharistic ministry services for our Lady of Malibu Catholic Church.
Loras will also welcome speaker Joan
(’83), vice president, Supply Chain & Development at Seagate Technology, Inc., and Cartegraph CEO, Scott Taylor. Taylor will be speaking on Tuesday, May 14 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the Alumni Campus Center, Ballroom C. Motsinger will be speaking on Wednesday, May 15 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the Alumni Campus Center, Ballroom C. Both speakers will be talking about Big Data, and its importance on today’s business world. They will also talk about their career paths and general advice for students.
Current business majors or students interested in majoring in business are invited to attend alumni panels which will be held throughout the week for each business major offered at Loras College.
“BusinessWeek is a great chance for current and graduating business students to interact with other Loras alums who have had successful business careers. The speakers always have practical and real-world advice for students in regards to their career and life,” said Loras associate professor of finance Mathew Keyes.
