Loras College on the RISE as Business Students Attend Ohio Investment Conference

3/24/2014

March 27-29, 2014, Loras College finance students will attend the RISE (Redefining Investment Strategy Education) conference sponsored by the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. RISE is the largest student investment conference and more than 150 universities will participate this year. Students will learn from speakers and panelists from national and global companies such as the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, iShares, and CNBC, among others.

Loras College will be represented by seniors Nicholas Czeshinski (Dubuque, Iowa), Pasquale Luz (Chicago, Ill.), Brock Wagner (LaMotte, Iowa) and Thomas Carr (Rochester, Minn.), and Matthew Keyes, assistant professor of finance. RISE provides a setting where students learn how to manage money and improve financial skills and thus gain tools to make the Loras College finance program stronger. At the conference, Carr and Keyes will present on the CANSLIM model, detailed by William O’Neil in his book How to Make Money in Stocks, as their primary instrument to analyze companies and select stocks through the Loras LIFE course.

“The RISE conference is a one of a kind experience designed for students. The experiences and connections available are extraordinary,” Keyes explained.
