Matt Garrett, Ph.D.
Matt Garrett is the Chair of the Division of Sport Studies and also serves as the sport management program coordinator. He has been at Loras since the fall of 2005, previously serving at different colleges in roles in coaching, athletic administration, and teaching. He teaches courses in sport marketing, sport governance, and sport law. His research interests include the application of Catholic social teaching to the sport business industry and his third book Developing Responsible Contributors: Human Dignity Issues in the Sport Business Industry will be released in 2013. Garrett is active in the Dubuque community youth baseball scene. A Pekin, Illinois native, Garrett received his master’s degree in sport management at Illinois State University and his doctorate in higher education administration at Saint Louis University.
Anne Marx, Ph.D.
Dr. Anne Marx is an Assistant Professor of Sport Management. Dr. Marx joined Loras College in the fall of 2011. She has practical experience in collegiate and secondary education athletic departments, and as a summer camp director. Her research focus is on sport as a platform for socio-cultural change with specific interests in ethics, law, and gender issues. Her research has been published in numerous academic journals and she has presented her research at national and international conferences. Dr. Marx received her master's from Arizona State University and her doctorate in Sport Management from the University of Arkansas.
