LEAD 4 LORAS is a 2-tiered leadership program designed to allow students to continue enhancing their leadership development and understanding throughout their years at Loras College. Each tier focuses on a different perspective of leadership and teaches students about their own leadership strengths, how to work effectively in groups and how to apply this to making a positive impact in their leadership roles. Throughout the series, students will reflect on how to best to utilize their strengths in their leadership. Through active participation and completion of all tiers, students will have a better understanding of leadership and their own values and abilities Students will develop a lifelong commitment to involvement and citizenship.
Tier 1 focuses on enhancing the individual. Participants will take the Strengths Quest instrument to help identify their strengths and to maximize their leadership potential. Tier 1 will help students to get involved on campus and acquire the skills necessary to successfully hold leadership positions on campus and beyond.
Tier 1 Requirements Include:
Attend 5 out of the 6 Tier 1 sessions.
Complete the Strengths Quest instrument and interpret findings with program facilitators.
Participate in a co-curricular experience such as a club or organization, service experience, intercollegiate sport, etc.
Ongoing reflection on experience
Tier 2 focuses on group dynamics and values. Participants will be challenged to expand their existing understanding of their strengths and leadership style and apply it to their current leadership roles. The sessions will help participants understand and actively pursue creative solutions to community problems.
Tier 2 Requirements Include:
Attend 5 out of the 6 Tier 2 sessions.
Expand their leadership role in a co-curricular experience.
Ongoing reflection on experience.
Alternating tiers of the LEAD 4 LORAS program will be offered every semester (ie. Tier 2 Fall, Tier 1 in the Spring) and each tier will consist of 6-8 sessions. At the completion of Tier 2 participants will receive a certificate of completion.
