Author Swan (’98) Reading from New Releases

Award-winning poet, writer, and Loras alumnae Heather Swan (’98), will be reading from her new and forthcoming books Dandelion and Where the Grass Still Sings: Stories of Insects and Interconnection. Refreshments will be served. Books will be available for purchase.

Heather Swan’s poems have appeared in journals such as Terrain, Minding Nature, Poet Lore, Phoebe, The Raleigh Review, The Hopper, Midwestern Gothic, Cold Mountain, and many anthologies. Her nonfiction has appeared in Aeon, Belt, Catapult, Edge Effects, Emergence, ISLE, Minding Nature, and The Learned Pig.

She is the author of the poetry collection A Kinship with Ash (Terrapin), a finalist for the ASLEBook Award. She also receives an Illinois Arts Council Fellowship, the Maud Weinshenk Award, the August Derleth Prize for Poetry, and an honorable mention for the Lorine Niedecker Award.

Her book Where Honeybees Thrive: Stories from the Field (PennState Press) won the Sigurd F. Olson Nature Writing Award. A companion book, Where the Grass StillSings: Stories of Insects and Interconnection, will be published in the spring of 2024. She teaches environment literature and writing in Madison, WI.
