Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee

Loras College is committed to performing animal research humanely and competently. The Loras College Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is empowered by the federal government, Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) to “review, and, if warranted, investigate concerns involving the care and use of animals resulting from public complaints, or reports of noncompliance from laboratory or research facility employees or personnel.”

Animal Care & Use

The IACUC will take any reported concern seriously and investigate it thoroughly. Whether or not made anonymously, all reviews and investigations will be dealt with confidentially to the extent reasonably possible. The contacts listed below welcome questions or concerns about animal care and use at Loras College.

Reporting Concerns Anonymously

Submit an online report related to animal care and use at Loras College anonymously via SurveyMonkey.

The IACUC is required to investigate reports of suspected animal neglect, abuse, or mistreatment. No facility employee, committee member, or laboratory personnel shall be discriminated against or be subject to any reprisal for reporting violations of any regulation or standards under the Animal Welfare Act [9 CFR, Part 2, Subpart C 2.32 (c) (4)].
