Andrew Encinas Ph.D.
Visiting Assistant Professor of Biochemistry
Credentials
Ph.D., Purdue University 2024
Dr. Encinas received his bachelor of science in biochemistry at the University of California, Riverside (2019) and his PhD at Purdue University (2024) in chemistry. His graduate research focused on developing self-assembling coiled-coil peptide materials for intracellular delivery. He also worked on modifying cell-penetrating peptides for use as antimicrobial agents.
He teaches biochemistry, advanced biochemistry, general chemistry, and senior seminar for chemistry and biochemistry majors. Dr. Encinas’s research at Loras College lies in the intersection of chemical biology and biochemistry. Specific research interests include self-assembly of peptides/proteins and their applications in the treatments of human diseases.
