With over 20 years of pastoral service, Fr. Dustin Vu brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as Loras’ Vice President for Catholic Identity, Mission, and Vocation. He returned to Loras College in 2020 to serve as chaplain before stepping into his current leadership role.
He began his professional career in the fields of construction, petroleum, and bridge design before entering priestly formation. From January 1999 to May 2000, he completed his pre-theology studies at Loras College (St. Pius X Seminary), then continued his theological education leading to ordination. Fr. Vu was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ on June 26, 2004, at the Cathedral of St. Raphael in Dubuque, Iowa.
His first pastoral assignments were as associate pastor at St. Pius X Parish in Cedar Rapids (2004–2006) and Resurrection Parish in Dubuque (2006–2008). In 2008, he returned to Cedar Rapids to serve as pastor of St. John XXIII Parish (2008-2020). During that time, he also served as priest chaplain at Xavier Catholic High School, where he discovered a deep calling to minister to teenagers and young adults in their faith journeys.
Fr. Vu’s wider service to the Archdiocese of Dubuque includes membership on the Seminary Admissions Board (2007–2016), the Priests Council (2022–present), and serving as Associate Vocation Director (2010–present). He was also director of the Newly Ordained Priests Program (2017–2021) and chaplain at Mount Mercy University (2010–2015).
