Dr. Kohlhaas teaches in the Religious Studies and Theology, Catholic Studies, Ethics, and Gender Studies departments as well as honors and general education. Courses include Catholic Social Teaching, Foundations of Ethics, and Christian Sexual Morality. His primary field of research is the intersection of theological anthropology and moral theology. This has led to research in the areas of sexual ethics, family ethics, environmental ethics, and theologies of children and parenthood. He is the author of Beyond Biology: Rethinking Parenthood in the Catholic Tradition (Georgetown, 2021) and co-editor of Human Families: Identities, Relationships, and Responsibilities (Orbis Press, 2021) and Catholic Family Teaching: Commentaries and Interpretations (Georgetown, 2024). Dr. Kohlhaas regularly presents his research publicly for both academic and general audiences and has been published in academic journals as well as newspapers, magazines, and blogs.
