Gallagher has spent her adult life advocating for the full inclusion of everyone with no exceptions. She has been the president of IL TASH and Iowa MAEOPP as well as a board member of the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities, the Autism Society of Illinois, the Think College Illinois Task Force, the Illinois Economic and Employment Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Task Force, and founded Galena Parent Advocates.

Gallagher currently teaches ARC 101, ARC 125, and ARC 336 in the ARCH Program and is the Program Director for the Disabilities Studies Master of Arts Program debuting in Summer 2024.

In her spare time, Gallagher is a Jo Daviess County Board Member and a volunteer EMT with Galena IL EMS. She enjoys spending time with her partner, four children, five grandchildren, and her faithful companion Shadow.
