He specializes in performing and communication arts practice, as well as popular media and narrative analysis, interpretation, and criticism, helping students become creative, critical thinkers ready for diverse roles and non-routine careers.
Decker regularly teaches courses in acting, directing, communication, and expressive arts. He also directs Loras Players productions and coordinates the Film & Theatre minor. He brings real-world experience as an award-winning actor and director, feature writer and managing editor, marketing and public relations director, and arts administrator.
A former City of Dubuque Arts & Cultural Affairs Commissioner and Civic Action Fellow, he contributes to campus life through the Honors Program, Bridge Program, Legacy Symposium, and Academic Council.
