Talita Carmo is an Assistant Professor of Biology and joined Loras in 2024. Dr. Carmo teaches vertebrate physiology, human anatomy, introductory biology, and histopathology. Her research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases using zebrafish, Danio rerio, as a molecular model that shares 70% of the same genes as humans. She is interested in editing the genome using the CRISPR-Cas9 method to study genes associated with Alzheimer’s, particularly those influenced by environmental changes.
