School earns fourth place in ‘Best Iowa College’ list
DUBUQUE, Iowa – Loras College is the highest-ranked Catholic and fourth best college or university in Iowa, according to the 2018 College Consensus Best Colleges and Universities in Iowa rankings.
“Loras’ inclusion on the list shows that we are making an impact on students that will have a transformative effect on their lives and those of others,” Jim Collins, president of Loras, said.
Loras topped other institutions such as University of Iowa, Iowa State University, Coe College, Simpson College, Luther College, Saint Ambrose University, University of Northern Iowa, Cornell College and Wartburg College. Locally, Loras ranked higher than Clarke University and University of Dubuque. Only Grinnell College, Northwestern College and Drake University ranked higher.
College Consensus results are determined through reputable college ranking systems and thousands of student reviews. The Publisher Consensus rating, a school’s average score from the most respected college rankings publishers, for Loras is 64.5 compared to the average of 52.6.
Among other accolades, Loras was recently ranked third among Iowa’s 34 private not-for-profit colleges according to MONEY Magazine’s 2018 Best Colleges For Your Money list.
MONEY Magazine analyzed graduation rates, tuition, family borrowing and alumni earnings, in addition to 22 other data points, of 727 schools across the nation to find the country’s top “Best Value” institutions.
Loras has launched several academic offerings to guide students toward career and life skills in recent years. These include: business analytics, neuroscience, wealth management and financial planning, and an ABET accredited Engineering program. At the graduate level, athletic training, school counseling and an counseling have been added.
