Rebecca Nonnenmann (’22) Earns DES Scholarship

Delta Epsilon Sigma (DES) National Honor Society awarded Rebecca Nonnenmann (’22) with the 2021 Scholarship for Undergraduate Study.

Nonnenmann is a member of the Civic Leaders Program, through which she has held an internship with St. Mark’s Youth Enrichment Program. With St. Mark’s, she has helped to implement after-school programs for underserved K-8 students in the Dubuque community.

Delta Epsilon Sigma is a national scholastic honor society for students of Catholic colleges and universities in the United States. DES was founded in 1939 by Rev. E. A. Fitzgerald, the Dean of Studies at Loras College.

As a double major in education and sociology, Nonnenmann seeks to understand not only the way that students learn but also the social systems that affect their lives. She wishes to create inclusive spaces for all students, drawing from her own positive experience of inclusion at Loras. The DES Scholarship will provide Nonnenmann with financial support as she completes her senior year at Loras and continues her work with children in local Title I schools.
