Three Loras Graduates Join Dubuque Police Department

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Antone Dixon (’19), Stephanie Wehr (’19) and Brendan Nugent (’19) are the three newest members of the Dubuque Police Department after being sworn in as police officers on  Thursday, December 19.

Dixon, Wehr and Nugent were all criminal justice majors at Loras. Dixon graduated in August, while Wehr and Nugent completed their coursework this month.

“These three students each bring unique sets of talents to their future roles of police officers,” Valerie Bell, assistant professor of criminal justice, said. “The one thing they have in common, an especially important skill for a police officer, is their ability to interact with a diverse citizenry. We are proud of these exceptional young people and look forward to seeing them patrolling our city.”
