Kate Cooper  PhD

Professor of Biology

Credentials

BA, Luther College, 2002
PhD, University of Wisconsin – Madison, 2008

Dr. Cooper teaches introductory biology, cell and molecular biology, immunology, the science of food and cooking, and the biology of women (both for non-science majors). Her research interests include investigating cell migration with live-cell imaging of the social amoeba dictyostelium using light and fluorescent microscopy. Dictyostelium are easy to work with in the laboratory and are avid migrating cells that can be used as a model for other migrating cells since they move in a similar way to immune cells that must migrate throughout the human body to fight infections.
